Duana Jones – Coach
My love of fitness began with CrossFit. Outside of my high school dance team, I didn’t workout or play sports. In college, I joined a ‘globo’ gym with the sole purpose of trying to avoid gaining the dreaded ‘”freshman fifteen”. I attended my share of group fitness classes….step aerobics, dance aerobics…you name it, I’ve done it. Fast forward 15 years and my true fitness journey began when a friend suggested I try CrossFit to help me train for a half-marathon. When I signed up for my first class, my intention was to commit only for the couple of months I would train for the half marathon. After the first week, I was hooked! As much as it beat me down mentally and physically, it built me up just the same. And I wanted more!
I love the challenge and variety of CrossFit. Each WOD is unique in that it presents a new physical and mental challenge and part of the allure of CrossFit is working to overcome both. As a part of the Northlake family, I am fortunate to be able to share my love of CrossFit with others by helping them reach their fitness goals and empowering them with the tools they need, inside and outside of the gym, to be successful!
