February Bootcamp Transformation Spotlight

Who are you? And where are you from?
My name is Asif Harun; I was born in Guyana, South American and migrated to Queens, NY at the age of 14. I’m a Navy vet, father to a 8 yr. old girl and I work in the IT field. I’m also single.

Lots of people want to get into shape or change their lives. What was your biggest transformation?
The way I eat and what I eat. It’s not just about working out.

What inspired you to finally take action? And how long have you been working at this?
It started when I hit 270lbs. about 6 yrs. ago. I realize I needed to make the change. I was then able to get down between 240 – 250 on my own until I joined Northlake BootCamp and dropped 25lbs in a few months.

What are some of the major changes you made?
Mostly, my sugar and processed carb intake. I have drastically reduced both.

What has been the high and low of this new lifestyle?
The high, to see the results not only in the weight loss but also the way feel. My strength and my endurance.

How have you stayed motivated to continue?
I think my biggest motivation that keeps me going, is seeing the results. And keep thinking about getting down to 190lbs.

Where do you see yourself going from here?
I will like to drop another 25lbs and move from the Bootcamp classes to the CrossFit classes.

What is the best piece of advice you can give to someone who wants to make a change but hasn’t found the spark to take action?
Success is not achieved by doing something occasionally but by doing it consistently. So keep at it, don’t give up and when you slip up to get back up and keep going.
